These remnants of our past come from an
era when commercial turpentine 
operations flourished in southern 
Laurens County and especially
Treutlen County and South
Georgia.  The commercial turpentine
operations ended in Georgia about a dozen 
years ago.

  1. There are so many pine trees in Treutlen County, and Laurens and others in the area! Most everyone who farmed used to collect and sell turpentine. I know we did.
